Safeguarding children is everybody’s responsibility. It is vital that organisations which appoint people (including volunteers) to work with children carry out the specific background checks and pre-employment screenings on intended new employees, minimising the risk of child abuse.
Our education job role screenings follow the regulations explained in The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, in The Non-Maintained Special Schools (England) Regulations 2015 and in The School Staffing (England) Regulations 2009 and consist of the following checks:
• Confirmation of identity
• Confirmation of current address
• Enhanced DBS check (ISA check included)
• Professional qualification
• Professional membership
• Right to work
• Employment history 5 years
• Gap referencing beyond 31 days
• 1 character reference
• Sanction search BoE
For facilities management roles in schools (building and other maintenance contractors, cleaners, catering staff) an enhanced DBS check may be required. Click here for bulk DBS checks or check out our individual DBS service.
