Helping you make informed hiring decisions
Criminal Record checks may be more familiar to you under the titles of DBS checks or CRB checks. They investigate a candidate’s criminal history, revealing any record of past convictions, cautions, warnings, reprimands and more - depending on the level of check. Different roles require different levels of Criminal Record checks, so our specialist team can advise you if you are unsure.
We conduct DBS checks as part of our specialised packages, as a bulk service, or as an individual service, meaning we can either conduct any other checks you require alongside the DBS, conduct numerous DBS checks at once, or carry out an individual check for one candidate. There are three levels of checks available - Basic, Enhanced and Standard. If you are not sure which level of check you need, feel free to contact us and one of our well trained representatives will help you.
We are an umbrella body with the DBS, meaning that we have direct access to initiate, track and obtain the results, and are inspected and audited to check our processes are compliant. Therefore, you can be sure that the service will be as simple and efficient as possible.
We have relationships with both Disclosure Scotland and Access NI, so we can carry out Criminal Record checks for candidates or clients across the UK. Additionally, if you are an employer requiring a check on an candidate from overseas, we offer thorough and fast International Searches from a wide multitude of countries.
Recent KPIs have shown that 53% of our enhanced DBS checks have come back within 1 calendar day. We typically countersign in 0.1 days in comparison to our competitors who countersign in 1.0 days. We are willing to take a view and give advice on eligibility. A lot of DBS companies will refer people back to the guidelines, whereas we consider ourselves the professionals so will always advise.
We offer the following checks:
Basic Disclosures
(formerly known as a Basic CRB) only disclose unspent (current) convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings as per the Exceptions Order ROA 1974. They are not employment specific, so anyone can apply for one e.g. individuals, employers or self-employed.
Standard DBS checks
(formerly known as a Standard CRB) only apply to certain professions such as roles within national security, legal services or accountancy. Standard DBS checks show convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings held on the Police National Computer as per the Exceptions Order ROA 1974.
Enhanced DBS checks
(formerly known as an Enhanced CRB) only apply to positions that involve contact with vulnerable groups, including children (e.g. caring for, supervising, training or being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults). Enhanced DBS checks show convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings held in England and Wales on the Police National Computer and in local police records as per the Exceptions Order ROA 1974.
